The Metropolitan Bar Caucus (MBC) seeks to serve the interests and address the concerns of major metropolitan bar associations throughout the United States. At annual and midyear meetings held in conjunction with the ABA and the NCBP, the MBC presents programs exploring a variety of topics including pro bono activities, diversity, membership and how metro bars can support solo and small firms.

The Metropolitan Bar Caucus (MBC) was established in 1979 as the National Caucus of Metropolitan bar leaders, a voluntary, unstructured organization of major metropolitan bar leaders under the leadership of Jerome Bogutz of the Philadelphia Bar. Two years later the MBC gained recognition as a valuable component of the National Conference of Bar Presidents (NCBP) and assumed the role as the forum for discussion among metro bar leaders. It became an integral part of the NCBP midyear and annual meetings.

All metropolitan bar associations with memberships of 1,000 or more attorneys are eligible to be members of the MBC. Organizational dues are charged based on bar membership size. Membership covers the incumbent president, the two next highest-ranking officers, the bar executive, any delegate to the ABA House of Delegates, and the past presidents for the two immediately preceding years. Past presidents of metro bars can join as individual members.
